The Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling is the professional home for Psychodynamic Psychotherapists, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists and Group-Analytic Therapists all of whom completed their minimum 4 year training at WPF Therapy, one of the largest and most respected training institutions in the UK. WPF has been training therapists and providing therapy since 1969.
The first step of reaching out to a counsellor or psychotherapist can be a daunting one. To help you, we have a directory where you can easily search for the right therapist for you.
It is estimated that about a quarter of the UK population will experience mental health issues in the course of a year. These issues might be generalised anxiety disorder, panic attacks, depression, relationship or family issues, and loss. Or sometimes you may feel empty, stuck, lonely, or desperate, in a way that is having a profound effect on your relationships and life.
For your peace of mind, we are able to guarantee that all of the psychotherapists in the Psychotherapist Directory have a minimum of four years intensively supervised clinical training at WPF Therapy. All are qualified to postgraduate level. Most have been practicing privately many years, and have experience working in the NHS, or other mental healthcare providers.
Whether qualified as individual or group practitioners, our therapists have a diverse range of experience and many have further developed specialist areas of expertise since qualifying. We are confident that you will find a psychotherapist amongst our members appropriately suited to support you with your individual needs.
All our members are regulated by, and comply with the codes of ethics and professional standards defined by at least one of the three major accrediting organisations, of which FPC is an Organisational Member – the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). All accrediting organisations are regulated by the Professional Standards Authority.
